Telecom Outside Plant Training Videos

Telecom Outside Plant Construction

In Telecommunications, Outside Plant (OSP) refers to all of the physical cabling and supporting infrastructure (such as conduit, cabinets, tower or poles), and any associated hardware (such as repeaters) located between a demarcation point in a switching facility and a demarcation point in another switching center or customer premises.

The construction of the Outside Plant cable plant involves the installation of underground, direct buried or aerial cable.

Fiber optics is the technology used to transmit information as pulses of light through strands of fiber made of glass or plastic over long distances.

Optical fibers are about the diameter of a strand of human hair and when bundled into a fiber-optic cable, they’re capable of transmitting more data over longer distances and faster than other mediums. It is this technology that provides homes and businesses with fiber-optic internet, phone and TV services.

FTTH (Fiber to the Home) FTTH includes fiber-optic access solutions designed for residential deployments. In FTTH networks, fibers are directly connected to individual homes or multitenant buildings

FTTx (Fiber to the x ) or fiber in the loop is a generic term for any broadband network architecture using optical fiber to provide all or part of the local loop used for last mile telecommunications.
